January 7: My whole family on our relatively tiny bed (a full). It was 2:00 in the morning, Chris was up finishing The Hunger Games - you literally can't put it down. The turtle woke up laughing and cooing, which woke me up, which brought the cat up on the bed. For just a moment the whole world stopped and there was nothing, literally nothing else to do, but be with the ones I love.

January 5: Having a great book to read on the subway, making the commute so much more bearable
January 4: Having access to some of the best health-care in the city; perhaps the country - a privilege when it should probably be a right.
January 3: He crawls. He crawls. The turtle crawls.
January 2: Skipping three subway stations in North Harlem to keep walking and visiting with friends who live on the Upper West Side.
January 1: The turtle lying next to me. His hand on my face. Eyes wide open. Cooing. And my chest feels like it might break open. It is so full of what I can only imagine is love. True wondrous love.
